"For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function," -Romans 12:4
As a body missing a limb, is the church missing the function of one of its people. It can survive without one's presence, but it is not going to thrive as well as it has the potential to. Some of us are the arms, some of us are the legs, and some of us are the feet of the ministry, but we are all indispensable components of it ultimately. That woman is the artist, that man is the entrepreneur. Many teach, counsel, and preach- while others fight fires, volunteer at nursing homes, and guard the prisons.
There is immense zeal enclosed within us for the purpose(s) that we are called to serve, and I truly believe that channeling that very fervor unlocks a whole new side to the plan that God has for our lives. When we deprive ourselves of our passion, we consequently rob ourselves of the joy that accompanies the Lord’s purpose that He has instilled within us. Not only so, but we withhold our contribution to our brothers and sisters in Christ. As organs have to work together in order for a body to function properly, so do the members of the church. Every single one of us has something to offer, each person having a unique passion contained in their very core, waiting to emerge. May we allow the cup that has been allocated to us to overflow and spill upon others, blessing them in our wake.
"How many passions are never truly channeled? That makes my heart break. Dear you, you have so much potential. Do not let it go to waste."
Do not be one who looks back on their life in regret, seeing a hollow space of wasted time. Step forth into your calling with trust that God the Father will provide all that you need as you do His will. Some of the moments in my life when I feel my most joyous are when I am either writing or helping people. When I'm giving someone a personal letter, volunteering my time at the nursing home or animal shelter, or just being of service to another heart, I am filled with euphoria. In this same way, allow yourself to be overcome with the feeling of fulfillment as you pursue the personal passion that you have been blessed with. Most importantly, make sure that you are doing it all for the glory of the Father.
P.S.: If you do not know your purpose yet, this is okay, too. Pray about it, have patience, seek God, and work while you wait.
"And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues." -1 Corinthians 12:28
